St. Mary’s High School – Lynn, MA

St. Mary’s Catholic High School was interested in launching a music department utilizing two available rooms in their Lynn campus. The larger room was slated for group classes and rehearsals. Leadership was interested in converting the smaller room into a media production space.

Both rooms were improved with regard to sound transmission between music spaces and other areas. Noise transmission was reduced by approximately half via non-invasive, non-architectural means of sealing the acoustic envelope of each room.

The larger space was outfitted with ceiling grid diffusers to improve sound for choral and ensemble rehearsals. The media lab received custom acoustic treatments making the room more suited to music playback and vocal recording. One teaching digital audio workstation and three student workstations were designed and built. Workstations feature Apple computers, high resolution displays, midi controller keyboards, audio interfaces, headphones, and a complement of production software creating many new programming opportunities for the school. Wondersmith Audio also provided interior design recommendations, all hardware and software installation, and staff training.
